Transportation -- overview
El Paso sits about equidistant
between the Gulf Coast of
Texas and the Pacific coast of
California. It is served by a
major east-west highway,
Interstate 10, which stretches
from California to Florida.
The city is also near the
southern end of Interstate 25,
which links El Paso's nearby
New Mexican neighbor, Las
Cruces, to Albuquerque, Denver
and eventually Canada. Flying
from El Paso is easy, as the city has an international
airport with frequent flights to Dallas, Los Angeles,
Houston, Austin, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, San Antonio,
Phoenix, San Diego and other major cities. Fliers can
connect to flights throughout the United States and
beyond. The airport's largest air carrier is Southwest
Airlines, which has 44 flights a day from El Paso. Other
carriers include American, Continental, Frontier and
America West. El Paso also has Amtrak train service,
bus service and easy access to Mexican airlines through
the Abraham Chávez International Airport just across
the border in Juárez.
